New Arrival - Srixon
We now have the full fitting cart available. So you can now try out all the New Srixon products with all shaft options for drivers, fairways and irons being available. The range this year is new to the market with Srixon coming back to the market place in Europe having been only concentrating on the Asian/Australian market for the last number of seasons. They are the parent company to Cleveland so they have not been too far away.
The range is very small but geared towards all players of all abilities. There are 3 iron heads, 545 aimed at all handicap ranges, the 745 aimed at mid to low and the professional market and finally the 945 which is a classic muscle back bladed iron that appeals to the really good player. Having said that there is a massive amount of technology in all the heads and will suit all categories of players. The drivers have a look of the traditional head with a visible appearance of roll and bulge in the face that is very absent in a lot of the modern club heads.
All product are available to demo and are priced at a very competitive level in the current market place.
On the back of the new Srixon products why not look at a full fit throughout the bag and try out one of the new wedges from Cleveland? The wedges are very fitting to the eye and we have all the loft and bounce options available to try. Just like the Srixon product this is the most reasonably priced wedge on the market. If you buy a wedge you will get a second at half price so why not buy a family of wedges to sharpen your short game.
As per the Hospice Classic this day is booking up fast so get a time booked as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment. It is on the longest weekend so there is plenty of daylight and hopefully in two weeks' time the sun will be shining. The competition is sponsored by McGoey Pharmacy for which the charity are extremely grateful.
We have a ball fitting day coming up on Friday 19th June on the same day as the breast cancer classic. This will be the opportunity to find out if you are playing with the right ball. We will have a representative from Bridgestone golf on hand from midday for 4 hours to put you through your paces. There will be a FREE sleeve of balls on offer for everyone that gets fitted so why not phone the shop to book an appointment. It could be the best 15 minutes you spend this season as we are all guilty of reaching for the wrong piece of ammunition.
There will be new balls going on the driving range this weekend and our picker is finally up and running. With the shop now open to 8.30 pm during the week and the sun starting to shine please come in and get your range balls in the shop. Balls also will be sold on the range when the shop is closed with the last balls available at 9.30 pm as we have to pick the balls and store them away. Balls will be sold at €5 a basket, please support this so that we can provide a consistent service.
When you are on the range, make sure you are practicing the right things from your long game right in through the green. The golf swing is a much simpler motion than you would think, there is much written about it, all very factual and correct. The problem with reading something in a magazine or book is that it can be taken out of context or sequence or not fit into your swing motion. There is never anything wrong with what is being said or taught in these articles, but sometimes it need to be explained in a different way. A common fault or misconception is that a player starts the downswing with a rotation of the left hip(for a right handed player). Yes, the lower body should start the movement back to the ball, but not to the detriment of other movements. In fact, the proper motion back to the ball can be started by all sorts of thoughts to make the lower body react properly. The swing is a bout big muscle movements controlling the club...too many golfers allow the club and their small muscles to control the swing...great when it works, occasionally.
These can all be sorted out quickly with a lesson, even a 5 minute chat in the shop or on the range. We have 3 fully qualified PGA professionals at hand in for instruction. I have been fortunate to have spent time under some great coaches, working for David Price in Dallas for two years, growing up with Micheal Bannon, then being his assistant and since 2006 receiving personal tuition from Butch Harmon on a one to one basis in USA. Mark has developed greatly as a coach being in charge of all tuition in his time in Germany and with me in Ardee. He has a real love of coaching and has worked tirelessly with the juniors in the club as well. Bobby who has recently started has been the teaching professional in the Nuremore for the past 12 years and is really keen to develop a sound coaching base here in Ardee. We are here to help you enjoy your golf and listen to your stories of victory, hope and dismay.
One last piece of advice, buy some sunscreen, the big yellow thing in the sky is coming.
