New arrivals
We have the new Callaway MAVRIK drivers and irons in the shop for testing and fitting. These are not available for sale till the start of February but are well worth a look and you will start to see them showing up in the Tour players bags very quickly.
They look fab and have a real traditional look to them, going back to the essence of what a Callaway driver looked like in the start. They frame the ball beautifully but the real importance will be the performance so get out and whack one.
Why not book yourself in for a fitting with these by clicking here. |

The weather has been a bit up and down and this will be a real advantage for custom fitting and coaching when we have the swing bay in place. It is scheduled to be built the last week in January, so February will be a really great start point to get ready for the season in 2020. It will be super to have the facility to get a proper custom fit in a nice environment with all the new products for 2020 and beyond. This year we will have a full fitting cart for Callaway, PING and a new addition with Mizuno being fully on board. We will also be able to fit for Titleist irons and woods as well as TaylorMade with the new SIM product. It will be a new world for our business as well as a real addition to the facilities here at the golf club.

It's hard to imagine what it feels like to simply pull a T-Shirt on and get out to play but those days are not really that far away. It won't be long till the longer nights start to appear and the season gets into full swing. We are clearing out some lovely clothing that will look great in the summer so don’t miss out on the sale items in the shop that are on clearance. We have an overstock of this years and last years merchandise that we will be clearing out before the season hits so come on in and see.

We have a great selection of winter wear with beanie hats, waterproof caps, mittens, thermal gloves, snoods, hand warmers. Remember it is never too cold outside we just do not as a country dress to be outside. It is never too cold to be out playing if you are wearing the correct gear. |
Have you got your goals in place?
We have talked before about setting goals for the season and this is the time to get your game in order and planned for what you are looking to achieve over the next 12 months. We all set goals in regards to scores, handicap etc. but that can be the problem with this game of golf. It is so hard to actually set a target and achieve it without properly analysing what needs to be right to get there. It is all very well setting targets, but without the tools, these are unrealistic and unachievable. It's like joining a gym with no set routine but hoping at the end of your membership to have lost weight, gained muscle and able to compete in a world Iron Man competition.
To get to where you want to be, you have to first analyse where you are at. You might think you are a good driver of the ball but maybe that is actually the part of the game that lets you down. Your strategy off the tee might be wrong that is actually costing you shots. That one or two big drives you hit don’t make up for the ones you are hacking out of the rough.
You might strike every iron out of the middle and miss greens by inches ending up dropping shots when you should not. You might play the wrong shot, that you think is right, at the wrong moment around the green and not give yourself a chance with the next one. You might smash a drive down a short par 4 and leave yourself an impossible 30-yard pitch when you could hit the ball close from 100 yards back with your eyes closed, so what I am trying to say it always does not come down to 100% technique and ball pounding on the range. It can be subtle changes in thoughts and strategy that can make a proper difference to your golf goals for the season.
Having said that, we can do the work for you. We have the know-how and technology in the business to analyse your faults and help you correct them. Unfortunately with modern technology and media presence, we all form our own opinion of what is wrong, but as President Trump would say, a lot of it is “Fake News”.
Having arrived at the club nearly 4 years ago the basis of teaching had been instilled by Bobby into all that took lessons with such a great teaching professional as himself. He instilled the basics of grip, posture, alignment, movement in the golf swing into everyone. None of these has changed in the modern golf swing, the fundamentals stay the same. Once these become second nature your golf swing is unique to yourself. No two swings are the same, they all look different with the exception of core principles. These are the important factors. Once these have been understood and mastered golf becomes 95% in the mind, it really does, but you have to believe that to progress.
The big difference between golf and any other ball sport is that it is a static ball starting point. Nearly all other sports are reaction sports that require you to allow your brain to react quickly to a situation in front of you after you have developed a certain skill. NO ONE is born with a skill or technique, it is developed. There is a difference between being skilful and talented. A static ball at times makes our thought process rigid and regimented, getting all the bad thoughts in the way of a positive outcome.
To simplify above, plan a strategy, master the basic fundamentals and play golf you will achieve much more than even you can imagine.

Coaching Dates
Don’t forget a couple of important coaching dates with the Ladies Spring Coaching Sessions starting next Friday 24th at 11 am, book into the shop. For the first two weeks we will be starting around the putting and chipping greens to work on the basic impact needed to produce all shots, so wrap up warm as it can still be quite cold and can be even colder when only working on short shots. This is such an important part of the overall swing needs as I am a firm believer that all shots should be hit with the same simple thought process, that why we have 14 clubs in the bag, all with a different job to do at impact…we do not need 14 different impact thoughts to use 14 different clubs, golf is logical and simple.
Our Junior Lessons are starting to get busy again with the schools back and the nights lengthening so remember to book in for these in the shop and if the weather is poor please check prior to confirm they are going ahead. We are starting at 3.45pm at present and will push this back as the summer rolls in on a Tuesday and Thursday. Also, remember the more advanced classes that are running on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm as well. |
It’s safe to say that the technology embedded into today’s clubs has helped us hit the ball further without swinging any harder. For some that might mean hitting the ball as far as we did before the effects of ageing started to take place, whereas for others it means booming drives 300+ yards and reaching par-5s in two. |
Just imagine... If you hit every club in your bag five to ten yards further, your tee shots will be longer and you'll have less distance remaining to the green. So, rather than standing there with a 6-iron you might now have an 8-iron in your hand, which gives you a much better chance of hitting it close.

We can help you! This can be the reality for a lot of club golfers today, but only if you make sure your clubs are right for your swing. With lots of new products hitting the shelves in the coming weeks, now's the perfect time to try out a few different options and see if we can make a difference to your game. |
