Welcome to this week's newsletter.

It's really starting to get a bit wintery out there, but there is so much to look forward to over the coming months. It's only 4 weeks until the clocks change and the nights draw in. The new season will not be far away and the winter will hopefully just fly by with the captains driving in early in the new year and away we go.

Pro's thoughts

Prepare for 2020

This is a great time, as I have said before, to get ready for the season in 2020. A lesson to get rid of the problems from the season just gone, a new set of grips to refresh that trusty set of irons that have performed for you over the season just gone or maybe even a new set of irons.

We have the new Titleist irons in store, PING irons and Callaway irons all available for fitting with our shop Trackman ball monitor. We also have a large stock of G410 drivers that have been such a hit this season.

There are also some great value in nearly new sets of Irons and used sets in the shop if you are looking for a real bargain. We have a set of PING I210 irons, 4-PW, in new condition for €600, a great set of Titleist 716 CB for only €380, and a set of 718 Titleist TMB for only €800 ( These retail new for nearly €2000).

There are other 2nd hand sets available so come in and have a look if you are thinking of a change. Christmas is not far away. (sorry!)

Other shop offers

For a limited time we are selling three dozen Chrome True Viz for the price of two, so €80 for 3 dozen of the most popular ball of the season so far. This is only while stocks last and does not apply to Chrome and Chrome X.

Callaway have really hit the ball market hard with this ball and the True Viz has been a revelation when it comes to seeing the flight and more importantly, finding it. So 3 dozen tour standard balls for €80, don’t be disappointed.

Also from Callaway we have a new stock of the top end Apex shoes which have just arrived and on a sale price of €90 against a mid-season price of €149.00. Anybody that has bought a pair of these simply cannot believe the out of box comfort and on course comfort that these shoes bring to your game.

There are three colours in these shoes and when they go, as with the balls the same offer cannot be made again. Now these would be a good present.

Prepare for the chill

It will soon be woolly hat, mittens, snood time for real so make sure that you get one in our shop as they can be the most important piece of equipment you bring with you to the course this winter.

In other countries when it is extremely cold or extremely warm they look at us and can't get their heads around how we react to a little change in our weather. It is never that cold or never that warm, the problem is that we do not wear the right clothes for the conditions.

Once you are prepared you can go out and enjoy anything that mother nature has to throw at you, so be prepared.

Club news

Club board

Eddie, this week sent out an email relating to the present board of management that is coming to the end of its 3rd year. There are spaces available on the board for the next years ahead and this is a great opportunity if you have a genuine interest in the direction of our club and enthusiasm to drive it forward to get involved.

The amount of work that is put in behind the scenes by the board of management sometimes goes unnoticed and the club needs the right people in the right positions to make a difference.

Get involved, stand for election, it can be very rewarding and eye-opening.

They've done it again

Without further ado, let us introduce Mizuno’s scintillating T20 wedge and look at why it's such a good option to be putting in the scoring part of your bag.

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters, Scotty Cameron's Phantom X 12 putter is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying thanks to its optimised weight distribution.
