Welcome to another edition of our newsletter. This week, we take a look at a first in 21 years for Phil Mickelson, as well as stress the importance of comfort throughout your round. Enjoy the read! |
Captains Drive In It’s the weekend that kicks the year off with our captains driving in on Saturday for the year ahead. This always proves to be a fun day and is a great start and welcome for the men’s, ladies and junior captains. There will be a casual reception starting in the clubhouse around midday. The captains will smash a ball down the fairway just after 1:00pm and then there will be a shotgun start event at 2:00pm.
Please come down and get the season off to a flyer and wish all our captains, officials and members a great year of golf ahead.

Thank you! I would like to say on the club’s behalf a big thank you to Brenda, vice-captain Anne, Maida and all else that spent their time during the week tidying up the flowerbeds and the surrounds of the club house for this weekend. It has been very much appreciated by the club and a big thanks again, it looks great. |

New arrivals... The Pro Shop is filling up with new gear. We have the new TaylorMade M6 drivers and fairways in-store - no M5’s yet but the M6 will be the go-to club as per the last few years. We have the new PING G410 drivers and fairways in-store for trial as well as all the fitting components for the irons, drivers and fairways from both Callaway and PING. Don't forget our PING fitting day on Friday 8th March. There are only a few spots left and these will be well worth it. Click here to reserve your spot. |
Callaway golf balls There are a few new additions to the Callaway ball range this year that have dropped into the Pro Shop. Callaway in the last few years have really hit this market hard and are starting to eat into the top brand. Well nimble a little crumb because it is nigh on impossible to break the stranglehold on the ball market that Titleist hold. Having said that, the two new balls in the shop are really interesting. Continuing on from the success of the Supersoft range there is now a new ‘Magna’ ball that is much larger than what is on the market these days, while still conforming to all regulations in the golf market. We had a great reaction from two different viewpoints in the shop when it arrived. That caused a bit of a laugh as this ball can be seen from two completely different viewpoints but will only really appeal to one. Its size gives confidence to the player looking down at it for one along with the super white finish. The technical aspects of this ball is that with the higher centre of gravity the ball will launch higher, have more MOI as it reacts to the higher point on the clubface all resulting in lore distance and straightness. It retains all of the soft playability of the current Supersoft.
The ERC soft is a different ball altogether and already has landed a tour win and visible presence on TV from Phil Mickelson. It develops the winning chromes Soft technology but with more distance. This has been quite evident watching Phil over the last few weekends when he has been out powering all he has played with, and only a few years away from the seniors tour. You will have seen the three alignment lines on the ball that are designed to bring the unbelievable performance off the tee on the requirements around the green. These alignment lines really enhance the required routine and good practices on the greens. This is a ball that is really worth a look at for all sorts of reasons. Both balls are now in-store. |
Let us know what you would like in the Pro Shop What would you like to see in our shop this year? We can’t carry all that would be needed to compete with the large scale high street store, but we can so easily match most of the prices that you will be quoted elsewhere. Just ask, if we can get the product we will, if we can’t we will let you know. Click here to contact us or call us on 00353 419827170 and let us know. |
Discounted ordering on FootJoy shoes This year we will be offering a discounted ordering process on all FootJoy shoes. As we speak, We’re getting new FootJoy shoes into stock but it can be very hard to carry all that is needed. If you go onto the FootJoy website you will see the whole range of shoes in the range. We now have access to a full stock facility through FootJoys website can check the availability of any of their products seven days a week. It only takes three days from order to get these into the Pro Shop if the company has the stock and we will beat any website price by 10% on the shoe if it is available. This goes against the grain a bit as before, these sorts of discounts would only be available if we as a retailer held the stock, but this year will be willing to offer it on a buy in. Click here to take a look at the FootJoy website for all the available styles. |
Best looking irons ever? Wow. These irons are beautiful. Titleist irons always perform exceptionally well, both for the better player in the AP2 model as well as the AP3 iron for game-improvers. From 1st March 2019, there will be an extremely limited number of each set available in this gorgeous all-black finish. We know that it won't be for everyone's taste, but if you like the look of them as much as we do and want something that no-one else has, be sure to click on the button below and leave us a message. |

Mickelson has his eye-in Phil Mickelson endured a frustrating wait to record his fifth AT&T Pebble Beach title this week. Following a delayed start to Sunday's final round due to overnight rainfall and a mid-round hailstorm, Mickelson rolled back the years. Lefty executed shot after shot to find himself three ahead with just two holes remaining, before getting forced off the course due to bad light. With just 'lefty' and 54-hole leader Paul Casey taking to the course on Monday, a Mickelson win was all but a formality with just the final two holes left to navigate. And so it proved. Arguably, the most impressive feat of the week came during Mickelson's opening round, when he managed to hit every single fairway for the first time in over two decades. We all know that splitting the fairway from the tee is a sure-fire way to take shots off your game, but we also know it is no easy task. Practice makes perfect but if you find yourself going wayward more often than not, or just want to tidy up your game, then come and have a chat with us to enhance your chances of staying out of the rough. More and more golfers are placing their trust in GPS equipment to help them on the course, providing key yardages to hazards and greens on every hole. If you’re yet to take advantage of this technology then you really are missing out, so here are a couple of our favourite products for you to cast an eye over... |
| Garmin Approach S10 Watch | This is the perfect accessory to help you get your exact yardage to the green with nothing more than a glance at your wrist. Sleek, lightweight and comfortable, the S10 GPS watch provides yardages to the front, back and middle of the green on over 41,000 courses worldwide, on top of hazards and doglegs, giving you all the key information you need to play better golf. |
| Garmin Approach G80 Device | Now this is something special. The Approach G80 is a handheld GPS device that gives you colour maps of every hole as well as key distances to greens and hazards. In addition, its integrated Launch Monitor not only tracks key data such as clubhead speed and estimated distance, but it comes with four game modes to enhance your practice time at the range. |
