Exciting times ahead It’s a funny time of year for golf, the clocks change, the nights get shorter and we start looking towards the festive period ahead and all that goes with it. It is also as I said a time to reset all that is needed in your game. This has been a real strange year for golf as we came out of the worst winter you could imagine into the best summer.
We were all over the place, not wanting to miss the good weather after the poor winter, golf was the last thing on our mind. The bar-b-que and beach were so much more appealing as we did not know when it would end…..and it didn’t, leaving the season so much in the air. The fresh autumn season should now re align our golf seasons, as long as we do not experience too many Beast from the East moments this winter. It is great time to get ready for next year with both your equipment and swing and iron out all the little faults that made grilling burgers and sausages a much more appealing prospect this summer than the links. Check in for a lesson, my diary is always in the shop and can be booked at a time that suits yourself and your schedule.
Next year will be the start of golf in an even bigger way than we can imagine in Ireland with the Open Championship being played at Royal Portrush. Do not miss out on this opportunity and if you haven’t already looked at getting tickets act quickly so as to see what is the greatest tournament in world golf…..right on our doorstep.
This will lead into the work that Jack and his committee has been doing in the background to attract more oversees visitors to our course. I have said it before that we take for granted the views and beauty of our course but the praise it receives from all that play it is just huge. With the launch of our new website we are in a great position to really hit this market in a big way as golf in Ireland can only boom with the tourists over the next few years.
The course is what the club is about and our course can stand up to any other option as it ticks all the boxes with so many different attributes. It can be long and short on the same day depending on the weather, the ball can bounce in all sorts of directions, good or bad, the greens can run fast and slow depending on the pin positions, it is everything that the true links player is looking for and over the next few years I believe you will see our course rise through the rankings in Ireland.
