Guess who's back? We’re now into December, and it has got colder, but the golf is still busy and it is only three weeks till the clocks start to turn in the right direction for the season ahead. Tiger is back as well, who knows how that will go, but it really gives golf a bit of a lift at a time when we’re running around getting ready for turkey, mince pies and a lot of couch time in front of our old Christmas favorites. The Tiger show could be a great hit or a flop but will give us so much to talk about over the coming days and weeks. Hopefully it is not just a fleeting glimpse of him but he is back for a long stretch. It will be interesting to see what he has in his bag and how he handles his new fitness on the course. How he adapts his game to his new limits and his new strengths. This is an area of the game that we all forget and in the intensity of competition forget the method of the practice range as our mind switches to scoring. Never has this been more evident than Dan in the shop chasing the order of merit for the Drogheda Traders over the summer to watch his dreams disappear at the final hurdle by a battle hardened competitor in Barry Doak that stole his crown. Dan lost his method in the heat of battle and we have had to listen to it since. |
