US Open Draw - Last Chance
It is the last week to enter the draw for The US Open that starts next Thursday. Entry is €10 in the shop and that money goes straight onto the shop credit even if you do not win. Come in and enter before the start of the tournament on Thursday.
New In Store
In the shop this week we have new shoes from FootJoy for men and ladies as well as a lovely new summer range from Stuburt golf. The new Helium tour eVent and Vapour eVent features high end microfiber uppers blessed with memory characteristics to prevent your feet from swelling after hours on the course.
It uses the same event fabrics as the tour shoe to provide one of the highest waterproof ratings in the golf industry. It also allows moisture out, preventing sweating and wet socks, giving the ultimate comfort at a very reasonable price. Come in and ask about these shoes and try a pair on.
Come In & Meet Gerry
Our new caterer Gerry is up and running in the restaurant and will really start to get into the swing of things as the weeks go on. He is operating a starting limited menu and this will only get better as he starts to get a feel for exactly what the members and guests would like to see. Come in and give him a try and feel free to give any suggestions to him as to what you might like to see on the menu.
Course Update
On the course Stephen has seeded the greens and treated them after the harsh growing start to the year, so we can expect a little bit of time this month of them being a little slower, but the rewards will be exceptional in a week or so. The course is really taking shape for the summer ahead and these little things have to be done every now and again to continue their development. I know we would all love to have the perfect putting surface 12 months of the year, but unfortunately this is just not possible.
The Flags Success
On the course our reputation is starting to grow and we are starting to see a lot more foreign visitors to our club. The addition of the new flag poles, along with our visitors' flags, has proved to be an immediate success as the welcome it extends has not gone unnoticed.
We forget at times what this course offers is exactly what links golf was built around in the beginning, with a course that gives and takes depending on the weather conditions.
Playing it every day we become accustomed to it, but for a visitor it can be a complete new and exciting prospect.
Group Lessons
Lessons are back to normal as long as the weather holds up. The ladies lessons will be on Tuesday at 11am and Wednesday at 7pm. The juniors are on as normal starting at 5.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday, as well as 1pm on Saturday.
This week we are working on long shots and to the kids delight, tees are allowed… this week only! Its back to the turf next week. |
Not looking great… Let’s face it; the weather forecast is looking rather bleak over the coming days, but don’t let this stop you venturing down to the club for a game of golf. If you do find yourself getting drenched on the course, we have a range of Ryder Cup-inspired outerwear from ProQuip with your name on. Think of it as preparation for the winter.
