Greetings golfers,

A new era has arrived at the golf club at L&B with the appointment of the board of management that took over the running of the club at the AGM on 11th December. This is an exciting time for the future of the club with many new initiatives to both retain the clubs history, values and heart along with striving to move the club forward to ensure it arrives at its 2nd centenary in 2109 in as strong a position as 2009. In the next few months we will see an information night regarding the development of the course and also the introduction of many new practices and procedures that will really bring the club forward. The board has already had meetings about various aspects going forward.

There will be a membership initiative starting in January and February and a well-structured programme for attracting new business is already being formulated. Be well aware that nothing will be implemented or considered that will have any detrimental effect on the present facilities that all members currently enjoy. The presentation information night planned for 23rd January will be an event not to be missed as the club will see the work that has gone on behind the scenes to reach the stage that we are at.

The board have a wish to thank all the members for giving the trust to them to move the club in the right direction. The turnout at the EGM and AGM showed how much the club is looking for the right direction and for me it is a really exciting time to be involved.

With Christmas a few days away we are full of excitement for the big day, but the club willed also be tinged with sadness as it marks a year since Bobby passed away and his spirit is very much alive in this club. He has, and always will, be big shoes to fill and I wish to thank the members for accepting me into the club and believe it or not will never tire of hearing the stories of how Bobby got on teaching and in the shop. Our thoughts go out to Carmel and family, he is greatly missed by all.

I know that Bobby always ran a pro-shop sweep over the Christmas period and I will intend to run one on Friday 30th December, details to follow, will send out an email through BRS on 27th morning.

Lastly I would like to wish all members, their families and friends, my past members from Ardee, a happy Christmas and thank you for your support through out this first season at the club.
