Firstly I would like to extend our deepest sympathies for the passing of last years Lady Captain, Maureen O'Neill. In the short time that I have known her, she was one of the most welcoming and friendly people that I could have met.
It has come as quite a shock at the quick outset of her illness as it was only in the mid-summer that we all enjoyed her company and love of the game of golf that we all share at Laytown and Bettystown. The club will move on, as life always does, but a little corner of happiness will have been lost. May she rest in peace.
As a mark of respect the Veronica and the Ladies Club have decided to cancel the Lady Captain's Dinner that was due to take place this Friday, 11 November.

Our Ladies Coaching was not on this week due to the sad news of Maureen's passing and will recommence on Wednesday, 23 November, weather permitting as I am way next week. We will be on the putting green, as planned for yesterday and will be working on both putting and chipping building the swing right from the start so that we can hit next season really running and ready to do great things. I am a firm believer that every aspect of the swing comes back to an extension of a good method and mindset in the short game and if we can master that then the golf swing should become so much simpler.
The Junior Coaching planned for this weekend on Saturday will not happen as the funeral is taking place and will recommence on Tuesday, 22 November at 3.45pm, Thursday at 3.45pm and Saturday at 1pm, all weather dependent so if it looks a bit dodgy give the shop a call and ask as we will make a decision early in the day to avoid disappointment. It is only a short winter really, with the Christmas holidays breaking it up a bit, so this is a great time to keep the enthusiasm going into next year.
This week in the shop we have fully re-stocked our range of ProQuip Outerwear for the winter ahead. We have a full size run of men and ladies waterproof suits, both plain and with the club crest. These suits come with a three year waterproof guarantee and are so easy to play in. They also double as a wind garment as well and are an extreme winter performance product at great value retailing for a full suit from as little as €179.
We have taken in lined jumpers for men and ladies with the club crest that are both wind resistant and water repellant for the winter ahead. There is also performance outerwear back in stock in both blue and grey with club crest on all.
At the other end of the market, Galvin Green offers you the same protection against the elements but with the added security of Gortex that carries a 5 year guarantee for all rain wear. We also have waterproof lined hats, snoods, woolly hats and mittens all for the cold weather that has arrived this week with a rush. If we don't have a Galvin Green product in stock but you have seen it online please ask and if we can get it, we will.
A product that can be very desirable at this time of year can be the motorized trolley as they make an excellent gift for Christmas for any golfer. We constantly have the Motocaddy S1 in stock in both lithium and lead acid battery. These products can sell very quickly at this time of the year, so if you are thinking of one of these please come in and order it to avoid disappointment, we can store all till Christmas week if needed. Along with this we have a good supply of both lithium and lead acid batteries in stock.
A very popular product over the last few seasons has become the 3 wheel push and pull trolley that gives the convenience and stability of the motorized trolley but at a much smaller price. They also fold up into a tiny space making it really easy to transport to all venues along with all your other needy items for your round of golf. We have the Cube Trolley always available at a price of €160, not to be seen elsewhere at this price.
Our sale is really starting to move and as you can see the rails are getting a bit less congested as you come into the shop. The T-shirts and jumpers are selling at less than cost price and there are a few new pieces added every day so come in and pick up a real big bargain before it all goes….we now have a lot of XXL T-shirts, slips and outerwear as a couple of our customers have been giving off that I must be stealing all the bigger items!
A product that has been going really unnoticed at the prices in the shops are the Callaway XR irons and our Cobra drivers and iron sets. Through testing, these have been some of the most exceptional products available for both distance and feel, all available for testing on the course.
We also have a couple of TaylorMade M1 drivers in stock going at silly prices before the season draws to a close. I have a reserve on these items but as always I'm open to negotiations on a sensible price.
On the ladies side we have a small overstock of PING drivers and fairways. These have been the best performing product on the market place in ladies golf over the past 12-15 months and a test drive will not disappoint. Don't let these few clubs slip past you if you are thinking of treating someone close as when they are out of the shop that is it until next season at these low prices. The PING driver has really performed as they have taken all the great attributes of the G range for men, increased the loft and lightened down the swing weight. The white head gives the appearance of a club at that you just cant miss the ball with creating great confidence at set up which in turn creates the confidence to really strike the ball with full club head speed.
Don't miss out on our ball offers, next week we will be stocking the new Mizuno MP Tour ball that is an equal match to the oversold Pro V1, but at a much more competitive price. We also have a few dozen of what was a great Tour ball in the Bridgestone Black and Blue, these are selling out at €25 a dozen, less than half price. A Tour ball for the price of a pinnacle…..unbelievable! Bridgestone pulled out of European golf last year leaving a huge gap at the top end of the market place, and you will only know how good this is when you try it. We also have 12 dozen Callaway SR Tour Blue at half price of €25 a piece.

| Ok, it's not for everyone, but we notice more golfers using a yellow ball these days - they certainly have their uses at this time of the year. The Project (a) is a superb model for amateurs and is available in yellow. Maybe it's time you gave one a go… | | |
