Pros news

This week in the shop we have seen the days get shorter but the weather has been great just like the offers we have in the shop. Every day there has been new stock dropping for the winter ahead, as well as unbelievable prices on clubs, t-shirts, trousers, shoes and bags. We will see a complete new range of ladies and men waterproofs suits from ProQuip in the shop next week as well the essential lined jumper for this time of the year to keep you warm and dry, although we might not see any rain for a while yet.

There has been great interest in the new Titleist 917 product and a couple of the drivers and fairways have already been positively test driven on the course. Feel free to come in and ask for a trial in what might be the hot product for 2017. The King Cobra driver as well has landed in the shop and is well worth a look as a club that delivers a real traditional look and distance that was normally only reserved for the M1 and M2 products this year. The Fusion driver and fairways from Callaway have also caused a bit of a stir with their distance along with accuracy due to the shorter shaft, still haven't quite got our head round this happening, but it works and that is really all that counts.

Have you had a good look at the grips on your clubs lately as we are doing a great deal on all grips in stock. You can have a full set of clubs re-gripped for as little as €50. Grips are a very personal choice but perform the most vital role as it the only point of contact between the golfer and the club. If the grip is too thin or too thick it can result in the wrong hold on the club, if they are too shiny and slippery there will be too much grip pressure resulting in a dramatic loss of distance and control. A new grip can breath new life into a club….especially at this time of the year when the temperature drops and the cold affects your overall game. Come in and ask our advice to make sure you get the most out of your golf this winter.

We have great value in golf shoes at this moment in the shop some reduced by up to 50%. Just because we don't have the shoes that you are looking for in the shop we can order them in and still get them to you at price you wont see elsewhere. Go onto the FootJoy golf site, pick a pair, come in and we will order them if they are available from stock. There are so many available colours and styles available for both men and ladies. Even though most of shoes that were and are on sale were summer season stock these are 12 months a year shoes that are fully waterproof and will more than get you through the winter and summer ahead.

Coaching news

Keeping warm and dry is so important for an enjoyable winter ahead, so is getting your golf in order for the future. The junior lessons have now moved on a Tuesday an Thursday from 5.30 to 3.45, weather dependent, so get the kids well wrapped up for the cold evenings and bring them along all winter. These start up next week on Tuesday 8th and will also continue on a Saturday at 1pm. We will be starting on the putting green and will be rotating what we will be doing each week going forward.

Ladies lessons will also be on Wednesday 9th and we will also be on the putting green working on chip shots and putting. The short game is the starting position for how all shots are developed so I will be building our winter group lessons around the principles of these shots so that everyone's game develops the whole way through the bag.

Club news

Two important dates in the diary are the Ladies Captains Dinner on Friday 11th and the Junior Captains Dinner this Friday 4th. Tickets are available for the lady captain's night at the bar and in the office and are selling out really quickly.
