This week sees the end of the regular season in USA with the start of the Tour Championship in Atlanta. It has been a great year for golf on both side soy the Atlantic and this will come to a climax in a few weeks at the Ryder Cup.
New products to look out for
On the back of this there are many products in the market place that you will see at the tournaments and many new products that will be finding their way into the shop very soon. Both Callaway and Titleist have new product launch with the new Big Bertha Fusion driver and 917.
The Fusion will be Callaway's lightest and most forgiving driver yet on the market with very high MOI making the desired straight ball flight that we are all looking for appear with magic on the shop shelf. It will have a very triangular look about the head, which is required for this technology to work, and will appeal to all standard of player. We will have these in the shop for demo from the first week in October so please come in and try one out.
The 917 is less than a month away and if you are interested in a sneak look and maybe even a quick hit we will have the Titleist fitter in the shop this Tuesday morning along with the new product for about an hour at 10am. This will be the hot product this autumn and will be like all Titleist product be in short supply at its launch.
There is also a new iron from Callaway with the XR Steelhead iron making a reappearance. This is very similar to the range of X12-14-16-18 that were of great success from 2000 thru to 2010. The big difference in this iron is the technology in the face, so there will the clean look of what was probably their most successful iron range along with the latest technology in the face.
A winner all round and a sign that companies like Callaway are going back to what made them strong in the first place.
We have the TRU is balls in stock from Callaway, these have proved to be the most popular ball in the market place this season as, along with being a bit different in looks and easy visibility, and it returns tour ball performance and mid-range ball price. At €40 a dozen or 2 for €70 this has to be the go to ball for many club golfers looking for that bit more out their ammunition on course
Coming into the winter, although the sun is brimming at this moment, is the time to really make sure that we are dressed and ready for the changing climate ahead. We are fully stocked on layering product for both men and ladies as well as waterproof suits and hats so come in and see what is in store for the new season.
The Senior Scratch Cup is coming
Next year sees the introduction of a Senior Scratch Cup to our schedule on Sunday 26th March, the first day of 2017 summer time, and hopefully will prove to be a great addition to our clubs' calendar. It will be a 36 hole event and place will be limited as this is only 2 weeks before the West of Ireland Championship so a strong field will be expected. I know this is quite a while away but it is something to keep in mind as the winter will fly by and the new season will be upon us.
