Greetings golfers,
Our mid/end of season sale in the shop is in full swing and the clothing on offer is fantastic. Among the sale items are genuinely new pieces that have just arrived into the shop from Callaway and FootJoy. As the summer stock is leaving the shop you will see the arrival of the start of our Autumn winter range with a great range of winter stock from Galvin Green, ProQuip, Glenmuir and FootJoy starting to appear for both men and ladies. Next week we will be having a full stock reduction on our overstock of golf shoes all of which are very current stock.
New this week into the shop will see the arrival of PING Vault putters which are a redesign, with technical upgrades, of all the putters that brought PING to the forefront of the modern putter designs that we see today. These are very limited editions and will only be in the market place for a short while and would be an ideal addition to any ones golf bag whether you are a "PINGER" or not. Watching Rory today at the Barclays can show the importance of putting inside of the overall game as rather than sitting five shots back he could easily be leading the tournament. This simply does not come round from buying a new putter, but at times we have no problem parting with big money for drivers, fairways and rescues, but when it comes down to the club you use the most, for a lot of us, anything will really do. These new putters from PING, along with the Scotty Cameron range are made to the highest quality and at times can turn out to be the best investment ever as some of the early Cameron putters are fetching well in excess of 1000 euro….for a poor quality one!
Titleist are still not set on a date for release of the new 917 but it is coming, click here. To get filled in on all of its attributes. This is going to be a major player and a must for the real serious golfer in 2017.
This is a great time of the year to start looking towards the following season and set new goals, should it be as simple as sorting out a small glitch in your pitching or putting to a complete revamp of your overall game and equipment. Our shop will operate throughout the winter, no matter what the weather is like, offering our full summer service only in a slightly limited timescale with the short days. This has been a busy summer getting started and there have been things that we have not got right but hopefully over the quieter months ahead all issues will be smoothed out so that next season we are in a position to offer even more to all members and visitors.
There are so many aspects of the golf swing that I really would not touch during the golf season but this is now the time to address all this little issues that could be simply holding you back. Grip, alignment, ball position, posture/balance are so often neglected in the height of the season as we are constantly striving to produce scores and our basic methods/routines can fly out the window. Also our equipment can be neglected at this time of the year with many clubs needing re-gripped….a new grip at times can alleviate many problems in the golf swing as it will allow you to grip the club with the proper tension rather than strangling it to make sure it does not slip out of your hands.
This Wednesday will see our last ladies group lessons of the first series. They have been a great success and we covered everything over the last 6 weeks. This week we will be up at the far end of the range so that we can work on anything that each individual would like to rather than me setting the agenda. They will run between 11-12.30 and 6-7.30 and are open to anyone to drop in for 10 minutes or spend the whole time out on the range.
After a few weeks of chopping and changing for one thing or another the junior lessons will be back to their normal time slots 5.30pm-6.30pm on Tuesday, 5.30pm-6.30pm and 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Thursday and 1:00pm-2:00pm on Saturday afternoon. These will run right up till just before half term at the end of October then we will run them over the weekends all winter, weather dependant. This week we will be out on the range again and be working on basic alignment and grip as going into the winter we need to get these parts of the junior games right up to sped so they can hit next season running and full of enthusiasm.
This weekend sees the senior cup finals at Laytown and Bettystown and although we have no direct involvement it will prove to be a great weekend to showcase the course and club.

| One of the reasons we like Callaway's clothing is the technology involved that makes its garments so effective in hot conditions - be it Opti-Vent or Opti-Cool. Have a browse when you're next in, especially if you've got a lot of golf planned over what we hope will be a sunny back end of the summer. | | |
