Pros news

We have no real stand out bargains in the shop this week as pretty much everything is a bargain at this moment. We have a large overstock of certain products that I will be looking to move on this summer at really low prices. We have a huge deal on Titleist 915 drivers and fairways, Callaway, PING and TaylorMade. Come in for a chat as these just can't be missed.

Today sees the start of the Olympics with golf returning for the first time. I know that there has been a negative element to these whole Olympics with the golfers pulling out due to a little flying bug and the amount of scandal around the Russian team and the doping allegations. Having said that the Olympics are a special time that as a kid growing up I like so many more would be glued to the TV watching my heroes and dreaming of one day maybe being able to compete at such a level. The likes of Padraig Harrington taking up the opportunity to play in the games when so many other stars decided against it shows his deep love of the game, its values, and shows he still has a deep desire inside of him to compete at the highest of levels.

Golf is one of the rare games that the worst player in the club can go out and compete with the best player in the club on an equal footing. I think this is one of the many reasons why we enjoy the game so much as club golfers constantly trying to improve but never under real pressure to have to improve. Lately the golf companies have realised the need to produce clubs that can be played by both the tour player and club player, Ping's G Iron was sold as a "players club for any player" is becoming true of pretty much every club that is on the golf market at present. Looking forward to the new products arriving shortly into the trade this will be very much the case.

Next week's ladies lessons will be on the short game and bunker play and will take place at 11am and 6pm on Wednesday. I am away next Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon so there will be no junior coaching on these days. We will have a second hour of lessons on this Tuesday evening only from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for the juniors to make up for Thursday and Saturday.
