Pace of Play:
Golfers enjoy the game of golf more when it takes less time to play it. In an effort to improve the pace of play the starting intervals between groups will be extended in the hope that overcrowding at certain holes will be minimised and flow of play improved.
Players need to be aware of their group's position on the course, and how they are impacting on the pace of play of other groups.
Various Actions Players Can Consider to Improve Pace of Play:
1. Position of Bags/Buggies
2. Marking Score Cards
3. Playing Provisional Ball
4. Watching Flight of Ball Carefully
5. Ready Golf

Annual Review
The Annual Review is a process whereby the Handicap Committee is required to consider the playing performance of all Members over the preceding year in relation to their current handicap and make any adjustment considered appropriate.
Buffer Zone:
A score is within a player's Buffer Zone when a Nett Differential is within the following bands for his Handicap Category:
Category 1 0 to +1
Category 2 0 to +2
Category 3 0 to +3
Category 4 0 to +4
Category 5 0 to +5
When a player's score is within his Buffer Zone his Exact Handicap remains unchanged.

We would like to wish Rachel Taylor and Eugene Smith all the very best as they are representing Ireland in the World University Championship at Golf Club de Brive Planchetorte, in Brive-la-Gaillarde in southern France next week 23rd-26th June. This is a great honour for both the players and the club to represent their country in this tournament.
It is a double celebration for Rachel as she has been selected to represent women's interprovincial team from 5th - 7th July in Slieve Russell. Also a huge achievement for both Ellie Metcalfe and Ellen O'Gorman who have both been selected for the girls interprovincial team at the same venue. This is great news for the club and shows the future is bright for ladies golf at L&B with many more achievements so possible for these players in the coming season and beyond.
Well done to Lisa Cahill who represented L&B in the ILGU Curtis Cup grand final on Monday 13th June at Dun Laoghaire GC.

Is this golf's toughest Major venue?
It doesn't seem that long ago since Danny Willett was pulling on a certain Green Jacket, but here we are again, it's Major time. What lies in store? Well, it's not going to be a birdie fest, that's for sure.
Put simply, Oakmont is a brute - as you can discover for yourself below. The U.S. Open this weekend is a must-watch, especially if you like to see players work extra hard for their pars. This type of golf isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it does make a change to seeing winning totals around the -15 mark, as is often the case.
Here's a stat for you:
The entire field broke par just eight times during all four days in 2007
